Dear friends,

I have some questions relate to the function of TELEMAC-3D hope you can help me with.

How The stress in the water is used in the computation of k in surface for the K-epsilon model ? what's the formula? can we changed it in the code ?

How we can introduce K in surface according to the wind ?

Regards

Hello Raghda

humm, I'm not sure I've undstood your questions but I will try to answer anyway.

I'm wondering if you are asking about the effect of wind stress at the surface in the computation of the kinetic energy k in the k-eps model, is it ?

I think that this effect is not taken into account in an explicit way. The effect of wind stress is considered in the momonetum equation which will include this effects. The obtained velocity field will be used to generate the production/destruction terms of the k-eps model as well as in the transport part.

You can find some theoretical explanations in the user manual but also in the book of Jean Michel Hervouet.

with my best reagards

Hello,

I am not an expert at all when it comes to k-epsilon but I think that the wind stress is actually taken into account for computing k at the free surface.
Have a look at subroutine soukep.f (sources/telemac3d).

Did I understand wrong?

Best regards
PL

Well seen Pierre-Louis

You're right, in subroutine soukep.f the effect of wind is taken into account for the computation of source terms of k-eps model.
Sorry for my previous misleading answer, which is true only for 2D case.

with my kind regards

hi,

thank you for your replies, but just to be certain, allow me to explain the purpose of my question.

from the wind I want to calculate the shear stress in surface then the friction velocity that I will use to calculate k and epsilon.

and thus to model the turbulence due to wind

is it possible using the sub routine soukep.f

and thank you again for your help

Yes you can
But why you want to do it by yourself ? how you will " that I will use to calculate k and epsilon." ?
Telemac computes everything for you and you can have K and eps as graphic outputs.
