Hi,

I'm interested in incorporating double-averaged Navier-Stokes approach for my model. I've not found support for it within Telemac, and was wondering if I'd missed something and there was any capacity for a DANS approach?

Many thanks.

Hello

As far as I know, double averaging is a post-processing approach that aims at itentifying specific areas based on a criteria you define yourself.
If I'm not wrong, this approach is used rather for the filtering of measures. I'm then wondering what is the interest to apply it with Telemac.

If you are still motivated, you can have a look on how we generate a Fourrier analysis with the results of Telemac-2d. You can inspire yourself with subroutine spectre.f for instance.

I hope that this helps

with my best regards

Riadh

Hello,

My approach would be to use DANS to solve velocities in three-dimensions - a DANS approach would allow me to predict flows over complex boundaries (e.g. vegetation) which would otherwise require a exceptionally small mesh for a RANS approach (millimetres.)

Using DANS method, the RANS equations are integrated over space and time, and necessitate additional terms in the model equations to represent form-induced drag. Spatially-averaged parameters would allow me to describe complex roughness elements and adopt a more realistic mesh resolution.

Does Telemac have the capacity to be able to apply spatially-averaged parameters within specific grid-cells?

Kind regards
