Prandtl mixing length model

Hello,
I have a question about the mixing length model after Prandtl.
If this model is used as turbulent model in the vertical direction, the COEFFICIENT FOR VERTICAL DIFFUSION OF VELOCITIES should be given or is calculated by the model? Is not so clear to me
Thank you in advance

Hi,
the eddy viscosity along the vertical will be calculated. However, you can specify with COEFFICIENT FOR VERTICAL DIFFUSION OF VELOCITIES a minimum value of around 1.E-6 which is the kinematic viscosity of water.
Best regards,
Clemens

Hello,
Yes, for turbulence models which are not "constant viscosity", the value given for COEFFICIENT FOR VERTICAL DIFFUSION OF VELOCITIES must be taken equal to the kinematic viscosity, then the turbulent part computed by the model will be added.
