Hi, there!

I hope somebody could point me into right direction.I am doing a simulation about temperature stratification of the circular sink. But according to the results, the temperature is only concentrated in the vicinity of the inlet, instead of spreading into the sink.I also found that the vertical component of the speed at the entrance is much larger than expected values. I am really confused about this and urgent to get guidance. Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Andy

Hello,

I am quite surprised that the prescribed flowrate is 3.617E-5, this is 0.036 litre/s so it is very very small or you have a very small domain.

A current mistake explaining tracers that do not spread is when the accuracy for the diffusion of tracers is not enough. Here you set it at 1.E-6. You can look at the listing and see if you have iterations of the solver, if it is always 0 iterations nothing will move. So try 1.E-10 and see what happens.

Look also at the mass-balance in the listing. It will tell you what is the quantity of tracer entering the domain, and you can check that it is (water discharge)*(prescribed value of tracer at the entrance).

With best regards,

Hello,
Thank you very much.I have tried to set ACCURACY FOR DIFFUSION OF TRACERS to 1.E-10.The result is much better(see figure 01). I checked the listing ,and found that the value of ERROR ON THE MASS DURING THIS TIME STEP was too big(see figure 02).Then I tried to set the ACCURACY FOR DIFFUSION OF TRACERS to 1.E-16,but it seemed that this cannot reduce the value of ERROR ON THE MASS DURING THIS TIME STEP.Is there any other things I can do to improve the accuracy of mass ?
Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Andy
