different water levels along river width 6 years 11 months ago #28447

Hello,

I am currently simulating a low-concentrated river in which high-salt inflow (cross section 7) on the left river bank occurs.

At the boundary condition 1 of the river and at the Source there is a prescribed inflow and concentration with free elevation. At the boundary condition 2 the elevation is prescribed (95.5m) and I have a free outflow and free tracer.

The initial elevation is 99 m, so that the BC 1 isn´t dry at the beginning of the simulation.

After 12h of Simulation the water elevation on the river bank is higher than in the middle of the river. The concentration at the river bank drops partly to 0. This happens at different section of my river.

1. How can it be that the water level is not the same across the width?
2. Why does the concentration take low values at the river bank?
3. Why does that vary between the sections?

I have attached pictures to it.

I am very greatful for your help.
With kind regards
Vittel
