Hello,

On performing 3 dimensional case flow simulation by using modified "source.f" program, i obtained the following error.


PROPAGATION AND DIFFUSION WITH WAVE EQUATION
TRID3D: SYSTEM ILL-DEFINED

PLANTE: PROGRAM STOPPED AFTER AN ERROR
RETURNING EXIT CODE:
2



Can anyone tellme how to overcome this issue?

How could you think we could help you without any other information!
We don't have any idea of:
what you're trying to simulate
what modification you made in source.f
what parameter you use for your computation
...

The only think I could say is:
Look at the subroutine trid3d.f in bief and try to understand when this message appear!

I am trying to simulate the flow through a long 3d channel of dimension (3500X950X5)mts (Lenth X bredth X depth). Top view of the domain has 4 sides out of which has l.h.s and r.h.s boundaries are opened. Remaining boundaries are closed. Number of horizontal levels = 10. The open BOUNDARIES are applied with PRESCRIBED VELOCITIES :0.2;-0.2. The main idea is to block the top 2 layers centre nodes(like a strip) so that to simulate the flow of water bend down and pass.

I essentially used source.f to apply

S1U%R=1000
S1V%R=1000
S1W%R=1000

For the top two layers (NPLAN and NPLAN-1) for th nodes lying as a strip.

Hello,

I'm not sure to really understand what you want to do, but are you sure you want to introduce an additional term of momentum quantity of 1000m/s2 for each component of the velocity ? It's a really strong forcing and if moreover you just add it on the 2 top layers, it will cause a big discontinuity with the other layers. Maybe that's why the solver is not very happy !
