Dear all,

I am trying to simulate flow in a curved channel.

When I compare the results of observed and simulated results, the velocity near the surface is higher for the simulation case. (see the attached results)

I believe this is the effect of secondary flow. In T2D, there is the option for secondary current in the steering file.

However, I cannot find the 'SECONDARY CURRENT' option in T3D.
I am using v7p3r1. Is this option not available in T3D?

or how can I consider the effect of secondary flow in case of T3D simulation?

The steering file is also attached.

Best Regards,
Saroj

Secondary flow option is not necessary in 3D!
This option is in 2D to compensate for the average flow direction over depth.

In T2D steering files, the default value for SECONDARY CURRENTS=NO.

So how does T3D uses this value to YES when it has no relation with the T2D steering files?

Or which parameters should be modified in T3D to match the near-surface velocity as shown in the previous image. Any suggestions?

Thank you.

You may understand the sec current correction as a 'cheating' way to represent a totally 3D effect in a 2D model. The correction itself computes the omega in a transport equation to let the 2D model know that the flow is experiencing curved geometry. So you dont need to 'cheat' in a 3D model at all because it can inherently model this effect.
