Hi,

I am trying to tune the k-eps turbulence model and would like to define turbulence at the channel inlet through k and epsilon values calculated by the vertical distributions of turbulence intensity (known data).

I have looked at various sources and forum posts but still do not have a complete picture of what fortran files or subroutines should I use or change.

From what I understand, minimum k and eps can be changed in CSTKEP.f. But where should I change the k and eps values for each plane? Are they in KEPCL3 or KEPINI?

Hello Ray,

You can have a look at what is done in the Fortran files of the Viollet example (in $HOMETEL/examples/telemac3d/Viollet folder).

You are right, minimum values of k and epsilon can be changed in CSTKEP subroutine.
You can change values of k and epsilon for boundary conditions in KEPCL3 subroutine and for initial conditions in KEPINI.
You can change the type of boundary condition (exiting or entering) in KEPICL subroutine.

I noticed that when I've prescribed the K and EPS profiles at the lateral boundaries (in KEPCL3). The turbulence intensity fades/reduces gradually as the flow develops from upstream to downstream. I've also noticed that using Hans and Burchard method would result in 'close to constant' turbulence intensity profiles throughout the rectangular channel. So I have tried to set KMIN and EMIN (in CSTKEP) to corresponds to a minimum turbulence intensity I would like it to be (12%) while using the Hans and Burchard method.
