I am trying to continue my simulation from a previous computation file. Since, I am doing a 3D simulation using Telmeac 3D, I have result files for 2D, 3D and GAIA previous runs. Is is possible to provide the previous computation files for all 3 (2D, 3D and GAIA) for a new continued run?

I am really interested in the hydronamics and morophological evoulution of a channel, therefore, if anyone can suggest which amongst 2D and 3D result files would be better to restart computation.

Hello Ravi,

For the hydrodynamic part, you cannot continue a computation from a 2D file and a 3D file. You have to choose one of the 2 methods. It is advised to use the 3D method as you have more information (the bigger, the better).

Anyway, I recommend you to read the TELEMAC-3D user manual and the GAIA user manual for release v8p5 where the continuation of a TELEMAC-2D/GAIA or TELEMAC-3D/GAIA computation was improved. Read the "Resuming the computation" subsection in the T3D user manual or the "Continuing a computation" section in the GAIA user manual should help you. You should use the RESTART MODE and RESTART FILE to save an additional file to do a cleaner continuing computation.

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan
