Hi all,

After many failures, I completed my CAS with the following keywords, and the calculation seems to work. In any case, it launches.

SCHEME FOR ADVECTION OF VELOCITIES =1
SCHEME FOR ADVECTION OF TRACERS =1
SCHEME FOR ADVECTION OF K-EPSILON =1

I read differents posts :

pham OFFLINE Administrator Posts: 1559 Thank you received: 602	Hello Laurie, If I were you, I would not choose 1 (characteristics) to solve the advection of tracers as this method is not mass-conservative. For the 2 other kind of variables (velocity components + k-epsilon variables), why not using characteristics. Anyway, you can also try to decrease the time step. It may be a reason why it crashes with this error message. Hope this helps, Chi-Tuan

Hello,

Reading more carefully the steering file you have provided, I have noticed you use a quite old release (v8p0 or older). Please upgrade to the latest as there have been many changes since its release, in particular fixes of bugs AND new default values for keywords: until v8p0, the default scheme for advection for tracers was the PSI scheme (SCHEME FOR ADVECTION OF TRACERS = 5 and SCHEME OPTION FOR ADVECTION OF TRACERS = 1) which does not work with dry areas (and you can get such an error message in that case).
If I were you, I would switch to LIPS for the advection of tracers which is now the default value: SCHEME FOR ADVECTION OF TRACERS = 5 and SCHEME OPTION FOR ADVECTION OF TRACERS = 4.

Very interesting error message indeed! As general advice, if you feel at all comfortable reading Fortran, I'd encourage you to go into the $HOMETEL/sources directory and search for the term "GUILTY POINT" (use grep if you are on Linux/macOS). More than once, searching for the name of the error in the source code has given me a clue as to the underlying problem.
