Hello,

Does anyone know how implicitation for velocity works in conjunction with MURD advection scheme? For example, if I specify my advection scheme to be 1st order explicit MURD scheme, ie,
SCHEME FOR ADVECTION OF VELOCITIES = 5
SCHEME OPTION FOR ADVECTION OF VELOCITIES = 1

Does (and how does) the implicitation value change the way advection is carried out?

If it does not affect the advection step, what step(s) does it affect (diffusion, propagation, or solving continuity)?

Any input is appreciated!

Thank you,
Jason

Hello Jason,

The MNEMO of the keyword IMPLICITATION FOR VELOCITIES is TETAU. It is the name of the variable used in the sources of TELEMAC-3D.
You can use grep command in Linux (or findstr in Windows) to find in which subroutine it appears.

TETAU is only used in WAVE_EQUATION subroutine, in particular to compute UCONV, VCONV and WCONV velocity components for the advection.

You can read the TELEMAC-3D theory guide where this parameter is theta_u and appears in equations 3.8 and 3.18 (in release 8.5).

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan
