step by step how to create the .cas file 1 month 2 weeks ago #45695

"Hi, I'm new to using Telemac and I'm working on my graduation project. I'm trying to model a simple coastal scenario to start: an oceanic boundary with a river discharging into it.

Could someone explain to me step by step how to create the .cas file for this case? I want to understand the basic concepts well before complicating the model.

The model parameters: What values should I assign to the time step, diffusion coefficients, etc.?

My future job depends on mastering this tool, so any help would be greatly appreciated."

Hello Lorenzo,

As you are new, I strongly recommend you to carrefully read the different TELEMAC-3D manuals, in particular:
- the TELEMAC-3D user manual, which is very convenient,
- the TELEMAC-3D reference manual which explains every keyword (complement of the TELEMAC-3D user manual),
- the TELEMAC-3D validation manual where every example of the validation database is explained + having a look at the $HOMETEL/examples/telemac3d where you can find many examples of steering files (which are run to generate the TELEMAC-3D validation manual). Reading this manual + looking at the examples may help to understand why the keywords choices have been done.

You can fin the these manuals for release v8p0r0 here:
wiki.opentelemac.org/doku.php?id=documentation_v8p5r0
or directly in the subfolders of $HOMETEL/documentation

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan
