Dear all,

I'm trying to study the hydrodynamics of a flow in a trapezoidal channel.
Attached, all necessary files for my simulation and the exact presentation of my case.
Especially my steering file on which I would like you to help me...

Best regards.

Hi

There is a validation test case called sources in telemac3d which probably constitute a good basis for your case.

You would like help on your steering file but you don't give any precision!

We couldn't help people which don't describe the problem they want to solve.
Typically the message "my model doesn't work - please help" is not relevant to obtain some answer.

You give a description of your case. But what is your problem?
The steering file looks like OK but it depends mainly of what you want to simulate!
for example, using 2 planes for a 3D simulation is not necessary a good choice! Why dont make this simulation in 2D in this case?

regards
Christophe

Hi,

As you said, I missed to write this:
I always obtain "max iteration atteint".
I changed the time step... nothing
I used 2, 3, 4, 5, ..., 50... no change
I increased on the "max iteration" of all necessary key-words... the program displays "max iteration atteint 500" instead of "max iteration atteint 200" for example.

Regarding the source case, looking at his file boundary conditions I think it is a closed area with an inflow (I do not know where it comes from) and the free surface increases in height, which is normal . As if we filled a container.
I realized the same model and it walking. But when I open the boundaries of my field, it doesn't run.

Regards.

Ok
You start from an initial condition which is just a constant level (no velocities in your domain).
But you impose instantaneously an upstream discharge of 900 m3/s!
This create a shock in the model and the model cannot reach to find a solution for this.
Try to impose the discharge progressively and this will probably solve your problem

Hope this helps
Christophe

Hello,

I tried a progressive discharge as Mr. COULET advised me, I played on max iterations and the precision of different necessary key-words but the problem still persists.
"MAXIMUM D'ITERATION ATTEINT 5000 PRECISION RELATIVE: NAN".

attached the running of the simulation displayed for each time, stopped in the second because of the irrelevance of results...

Regards.
