1) Would you brief me the difference between ADVECTION STEP and PROPAGATION STEP in DEPTH equation?

2) May i know the terms that contribute ADVECTION separately and PROPAGATION separately in DEPTH EQUATION?

Hello,

There is no advection and propagation step in the depth equation. This depth equation looks like the continuity equation of Saint-Venant equations. It may be that we formerly called this equation the propagation step in Telemac-3D because it computes the evolution of the mesh.

However if you consider the term div(hu) in Saint-Venant continuity equation, where h is the depth and u the velocity, you can split this term into:

h*div(u)+ u*grad(h) and u*grad(h)is like an advection terms for h. But we do not do this splitting in our procedure, we rather integrate by parts the term div(hu).

1)For solving 3D flows, three momentum equations (u,v,w(non-hydrostatic)),depth equation and PPE(in case of non-hydrostatic) are being solved (with mass conservation check). Am i right? Among the governing equations which equation is called WAVE EQUATION? Which term in which equation is PROPAGATION term ?

2)I really need to understand the difference between PROPAGATION TERM and PROPAGATION STEP?

3) Am i right in understanding that In hydrostatic version, (w-momentum & PPE) are not considered and w-velocity is obtained from continuity equation?
