I would start in the next weeks with TELEMAC-3D. So far, I simulated different applications on an existent complex bay in a Brazilian reservoir.
When I will simulate the reference case with 3D, the 2D results that I would get by TELEMAC-3D, must be the same of the TELEMAC-2D results? Can it be one of the possible "validations" of the 3D results?
Thanks.

The 2D result of Telemac-3D can be different of the result of Telemac-2D. The first file is an averaging of 3D (Navier-Stokes) result on the vertical direction. The latter is the solution of 2D averaged shallow water equations. So the average of 3D results is not necessary the result of 2D averaged equations.
However, the water depth and X-Y components of velocity could give a close results for the two codes especially if you are using hydrostatic assumptions

Great news: The next TELEMAC User Conference will be organised by Bangor University on the 15th and 16th of October 2025, at the School of Ocean Sciences in Menai Bridge, on the Isle of Anglesey, Wale [ ... ]
