open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

Good News Everyone,
Telemac-Mascaret is changing its logo and we want you to be a part of that change so we are opening a contest for the new Telemac-Mascaret Logo.

Here are the rules:

• It must be in vectorial format, it means that the quality of the image is not bound by its size (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector_graphics for more information)
• It must have a transparent background
• It must be copyright free

And of course because this is a contest there will be a prize for the winner which we will keep secret until the end.

Please also explain the reasoning behind your logo.

Here is my submission for the logo.

I give you 2 versions, one long and one short, which will make it easier to use.

The reasoning behind it is that I tried to have a line representing a dambreak or a tidal bore.

As a general remark about all the proposal already available.
There was no reference to Mascaret, only Telemac!

So here is my proposition for the new Telemac-Mascaret logo.
I wanted to use a wave as a general shape for the logo, because it is both a majestic and complex phenomenon that can be modeled with Telemac-Mascaret.
Also, you can see that there are some lighter parts in the middle of the wave that allow a good perception of the third dimension. I used these for two other purposes :
- the middle one I painted in orange and added a bar to make it look like the T of Telemac.
- the three lines all together form the M of Mascaret (||| looks like a capital M).

I think I was able to vectorize the image correctly and the background should be transparent, but if there are any issue with the attached file, please let me know.

Hello, this is Paul Richard, writing from Catherine's account.

This is my version of the logo.
All I did was reusing actual elements of the telemac logo (the ellipse, the yellowish small "t" and the blue background). And I added a globe with triangles because I think triangles illustrate best telemac.

I have a transparent background but I am not too sure about the vector image and how to do it. I believe you can resize it to the desired size on photoshop.

Here comes my proposal, related to the 2-D modelling and wave modelling with a reference to the unstructured mesh. The text can be removed, colours can be changed to match the website ones.

Crisp. IMHO it still looks like the stripe is loosing pieces rather than being made by those pieces. I would rather have them closer to each other. HTH

Here is my humble proposal for the new Telemac/Mascaret logo. The idea is to keep it simple and less computational resource intensive. I hope you like it.
