Hello everyone,

I am working on a project to model a river that opens into the Atlantic in northern Brittany, France. For this, I need to take into account the tide at the downstream boundary and the flood hydrograph at the upstream boundary of the study area.

I created a model with only the downstream boundary to test (using TPXO data). This model seems to work well and provides satisfactory results. Similarly, I developed a model with only the upstream boundary, incorporating a time-varying flow rate. The problem arises when I run the simulation with both boundaries in place simultaneously. In this case, I observe an anomaly at the upstream boundary, where the flow is zero (the boundaries are set with 566 downstream and 455 upstream).

I am using a cluster ( VERSION V8P5 )for these simulations. Do you have any suggestions or solutions to resolve this issue?

thank you

Hi
Read the manual carefully, particularly about the tide boundary parameters...
You impose tide at both!

Hi
As you can see in the attached .cli files, I would like to impose the tide at the downstream boundary and a flood hydrograph at the upstream boundary. During the simulation, I get a good flow at the downstream boundary, but at the upstream boundary where the discharge is specified, the flow is zero.
Best regards.

This is exactly what I said!
With your steering file, you impose tide at both boundaries.
As the upstream one is not of the right type to impose tide, you impose 0

I have checked the .cli file, and I believe it is correctly configured
I am also including the results file

I followed your advice, but unfortunately, the issue persists: the flow at the upstream boundary (boundary condition 2) remains zero.

Do you have any other suggestions? I noticed in the file LMDTPXO2008h1.cas the option for tidal boundary conditions is set as OPTION FOR TIDAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS : 1;0.

For my second attempt, I changed the liquid boundaries file setting from Q(1) to Q(2). However, this resulted in an error (as shown in the attached PNG capture) when using the files LMDTPXO2008h2.cas and crue12_12_2000_2.txt.

Could you please provide further guidance?

thank you

The error show a problem of dry boundary for an impose discharge, this is not the same problem...
