Hi all,

This is a very general question: what is the current status of the coupling mode between Tomawac and Telemac 3D (and, perhaps, also Sisyphe)? I heard conflicting things about this at the user conference. Is this coupling
- not yet usable?
- usable but very buggy / unstable?
- usable and a little bit buggy and unstable?

Is this still under active development, and if so, is there a timeline?

And now for a more specific question: has anyone ever tried looking at the effect of breaking wave-generated turbulence on tracer mixing? I guess that the easiest way to do this would be to take the wave breaking dissipation term from Tomawac and add it (in a modified way) in the k-epsilon turbulence equation in Telemac. Has anyone ever done anything like this?

Hello,

Just to confirm, in the latest version of TELEMAC, the 2-way or even 3-way coupling work very well in scalar mode or in parallel.

For your specific question on mixing, yes we (the consortium members) have had a look, as well as some very cleaver users. For reference, you can have a look at the paper published in the TELEMAC uSer Conference last year, in 2014, TUC-2014-Proceedings. Development of a three-dimensional coupled system between TELEMAC-3D and TOMAWAC by Maria João Teles. I believe EDF is re-writing that work into the standard TELEMAC.

Hope this helps,
Sébastien

Sébastien,

Many thanks for your reply. Just to be specific, which version do you mean as ' latest version of TELEMAC' ?

I believe v7p0r1 works in 3-way coupling, although it may not be working in parallel (the solution differ fro the scalar mode if my memory is right).

v7p1 (yet to be released) works for sure, in parallel and in scalar mode.

Sébastien.
