Dear Users,

Could anyone please give an advice on how to solve my simulation problem. I have very stratified domain and wish to add a surface discharge to represent the surface run off. It contains different than domain tracers values: T=-0.28C and S=0.0psu. The both velocities, u and v, of discharge are 1m/s and volume of discharge is 500m3/s. The source is placed on top surface level, 30. The case run ok but when I investigated the results it seems that it did not apply. I have looked at velocities at source node and there are very small, as everywhere else. Also tracers values did not apply. However domain is huge, and I would not expect to see the direct source itself due to big scale but I think the effect should be visible, especially I run it for 120 days model time. My problem is probably due to big mesh size at source as I did not refined it there and left uniform mesh in whole domain which is 1km. I do have tides and maybe they smooth the tracers and velocities on top but I think that it is just didn't work as I run same case without tides. I even placed the source on one level below but still with same result. Please advise. I have attached my results, fortran and cas files. Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards!

Dear Users,

Please ignore my post. The source is outside of domain, sorry picked the wrong point.

Unfortunately after some coordinate corrections, the error is still there:

SPECTRUM OR SOURCE POINT 1 OUTSIDE DOMAIN.

Is there any subroutines that I can correct that are responsible for such error? I have looked at proxim.f as was suggested on below post

www.openmascaret.org/index.php/assistanc...ion-in-parallel#7097

but it did not work for me. There might be some number of digits limitation as my coordinates have more then 10 decimal places: X=542069.81250000000 and Y=7358990.0000000000, these coordinates were advised by first error to use.

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards!

Hi,

I don't really know if its going to help, but you can try shifting your computational domain so that your lower left corner is close to (0,0). This can be done in Blue Kenue. Also, I read somewhere in these forums that mesh resolution plays a role in tracer concentrations.

HI Pat,

Thank you for your reply. I am afraid that I cannot shift my coordinate system as it my upset the tidal simulation as it is very sensitive to the Coordinate system as I am using UTM and TPXO. I had wrong coordinate system before and tides were all wrong.
But you are probably right about Refining mesh at source. I have already reduced it there from 1km to 250m but it might not be enough. I will try refine more. Thanks for advice. Will try anything, one or other might work:).

Kind Regards!

Dear Users,

It is sorted now. Just in case if anyone has similar problem the below post helped me a lot.
