Dear all,

I am studying wave agitation inside a harbour. I created a mesh with BlueKenue and correctly set all the boundary conditions. However, I do not know how to input the presence of a breakwater in front of the harbour entrance. The breakwater is located inside my computational mesh.
Should I create a new geometry with an island inside? Is there any other way to solve the problem?

Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards,
Francesco

Hello Francesco,

The detached breakwater should look like an "island" in your computational mesh. If you are using Blue Kenue for the mesh, you should add the breakwater as a closed line in the "SoftLines" field of the mesher object.

Costas

hello sir,
my working object is also same. I have generated mesh using bluekenue. I have to run ARTEMIS. how to specify boundary conditions in bluekenue? is there any tutorial for ARTEMIS, with sample examples? I found the tutorials of MATISSE and STBTEL but in french. if you have any documents related to ARTEMIS, MATISSE, STBTEL, BLUEKENUE, please either share the documents or share the links to download the documents.
thank you.

Hello, I'm a new user and I'm trying to use a trapezoidal breakwater in my simulations. Do I have to use another program to create the geometry of the breakwater (crest width height etc) and insert it as bathymetry or I can create them in BlueKenue?. According to some answers here, i must create o closed softline. I created a rectangular closed line but it seems that in the area behind the breakwater the wave height HMO from tomawac becomes equal to zero and and there is no wave overtopping. So my question is how can i create this breakwater in blue kenue using a closed line ? Thank you

Hi,

I have done something similar, I created a surface with the natural bathymetry and another surface, on the same mesh, with only the structure. I merged the two by using the calculator in tool of BlueKenue ( A>B ) It will take the highest point of the 2 surfaces.

Hope that helps,
Patrick

Thanks a lot for your reply Patrick. I have the natural bathymetry of my region and I want to create a breakwater inside that region. I would like to ask you about the creation the structure. Do I have to create also bathymetric data about the breakwater using another program and then insert them in BlueKenue? I haven’t understand how I should create the breakwater geometry in BlueKenue environment.
Thank you again.

Hi,

You can draw (iso)lines in BlueKenue and give them the elevation you need, or you export your structure from another program (AutoCAD 3D) to points or lines and import these in BlueKenue.

Basically, it up to you, what ever you are more experienced with.

Cheers,
Patrick
