What makes a "desirable" mesh for use with Open Telemac?

I am suspecting that the alignment of the elements and their closeness to a triangle that has angles that are all as close to 60 degrees as possible would be best. And I'm suspecting that "alignment" would depend on where the water is flowing... so that the neighbouring triangles are properly aligned.

Any comments?

For example, in Blue Kenue, if I create a hexagon and then create a grid and extract those grid points that are inside the hexagon and then triangulate the resulting points, I get the mesh on the left (below). I can then manually edit the triangulation and flip edges, one at a time, and make a new mesh that has the triangles "aligned".

In Blue Kenue I can also directly create a mesh using the mesh generator with the nexagon as the outline.
