Thanks a lot, Chi-Tuan. This really helps.
I have another question. I am trying to download the mesh generator "BLUE-KENUE " which is used for the FUDAA-PREPRO preprocessor. Once i clicked the download linkage, it links to a french website. I wonder is there an english version of this mesh generator software? Thanks in advance

Regards,
Yuan

Hi Yuan,

The Blue Kenue application is "English only"

Somehow you've managed to get to the french language WEB site.
There are equivalent English pages.
Because we're Canadian Government we have a bilingual WEB site.

Thank you, Martin.

I have downloaded the BK software. I found it is really functional.

I'm going to use TELEMAC 3D for a future project because our client specifies to use TELEMAC as the modelling tool. so recently i just started to learn the softwares such as BK, Fudda, TELEMAC. I wonder if there was a thread telling new learners about the general usages and steps of those models.

I did some researchs recently, this is what i found out so far:

firstly, I need to use geographical software (e.g., GIS) to generate shape or grid file which can be imported to the Blue Kenue.

then use Blue Kenue generates mesh and export it (with selafin extension)to be used by preprocess FUDAA.(BTW, i found there is some display issue with BK, photo attached)

In the Fudaa, i can interpolate bathmethy data.

Am i get it coerrectly? What should i do after those step? I have installed Fortran and telemac_v6p1, but i could not find an executable file under the "TELEMAC 3d" catalogue. How to start TELEMAC3d software once i prepared all the input files?
Thank you

Hi Yuan,

Also a new learner here, but I'll offer what basic help I can.

Firstly, I used GIS to create a shapefile of model extent, and to gather and organise bathymetric data.

Then used Blue Kenue to generate a mesh. Also used Blue Kenue to triangulate bathymetric data, and interpolate ('map object') this onto the mesh. This is saved as a selafin file. To get Fudaa to recognise it, I had to rename to 'GEO'.

In Fudaa you can use this file to 'Create a Telemac project'. This creates the steering file 'CAS file' you need to run a simulation. Also used Fudaa to define boundary conditions.

Then to run a simulation, I did this from the command prompt, a command like: runcode.py telemac2d mycasfile.cas

I'd suggest to understand the running of simulations, and playing around with various simulation parameters ('Keywords' in the CAS file) that you download and try running the validation examples from this website.

Others may have more/better suggestions.

Good luck,
Dougal

Just a quick note on mapping bathymetry...

The mechanism you used:
- Triangulate bathymetric points and then using MapObject is MOSTLY equivalent to;
- Create a new 2D Interpolator, add bathymetric data (points, contours, etc.), choose "Linear" as the interpolation method and then using MapObject.

The difference is that if you are including contours (iso-lines) in you bathymetric data, these are automatically resampled to a fine resolution based on the target mesh edge length. The resulting triangulation is therefore a more accurate representation of your bathymetry.

Another advantage of using the Interpolator is that you can define a constraint outline that defines the geographic extent of the nodes in your target mesh that are mapped.
Also you have choice of interpolation methods namely, "Inverse Distance" and "Nearest Neighbour"

Cheers... Martin
