Hi,
Converting SMS mesh for use in TELEMAC may be done as follows :

> Convert *.2dm file (SMS) to *.mail file (Dune Maillage, TELEMAC), for this I've written a "tiny" converter that supports triangular elements ;

> translating the *.mail file to a *.ser file (Serafin) may be done using Fudaa (Traitement du maillage).

- For complete information about 2dm files, report to : www.xmswiki.com/xms/SMS:2D_Mesh_Files_(*.2dm);

- To have the little converter that I coded, contact me by E-mail : This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

In case the converter would be used again by very beginners:

-your operating system has to display numbers with decimal point, not comma.

-the mesh have to be only built with triangular elements with 3 nodes. To change that in SMS > Mesh module 'Elements' then 'Linear<>Quadratic'

-the mesh has then to be renumbered. In SMS Mesh module select a nodestring, then 'Nodestrings' then 'Renumber'

Thank you Mr Fezai!
Cheers

Hi,

I attached a fortran file that deals with converting selafin file to SMS output files.

File Attachment:

File Name: TMC2SMS.f
File Size: 9 KB

This fortran program converts a selafin file to :

> a mesh file (2dm), if the selafin contains variable 'FOND';
> dataset files (variables).

If your original selafin file doesn't contain 'FOND' variable, you can use the program to convert your 'geo' file.

I extended my GUI converter for a quick use and it is available to anyone who wants to have a copy (just send an E-Mail to : This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

Best Regards,

Well, I see no attached file with my previous message, I don't know what's wrong with that.

Anyway, it is available in the following link :

Thank you for making this code available on the forum.

The attachment didn't work because .f files were not part of the allowed list for upload. This has now been corrected and your attachement added to your message.
