I tried to build Paraview from source using CMake and the freely available Visual Express 2010 Edition under WIN 7 64bit.
After some initial troubles Paraview works now, it creates the Selafin dll, I can open Paraview, but Paraview doesn't recognize the Selafin plugin. I tried also to load manually the plugin but nothing happens.

What could be the problem?
Did anyone try to compile Paraview from source under Windows with the Selafin reader and was successfull?

In addition, has every Telemac User to build Paraview from sources, which is not so easy, or it is planned to offer precompiled binaries including the selafin reader in the future?

I also tried the plugin on Windows but the compilation took so much time on my laptop, with a lot of troubles...

What kind of errors did you get? Did you set PV_PLUGIN_PATH?

Indeed, compiling Paraview from scratch is very tricky, though there's no other possibility on Linux. I will give it another try on Windows. Would you like to send me the DLLs you manage to compile (mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)?

openTELEMAC comes with a lot of more official PRE and POST tools (BlueKenue, Janet, Fudaa, Salome in a near future). As far as I am ware, there's no such strategy on supporting these plugins (Paraview, Tecplot) in TELEMAC.

some remarks, maybe some skilled programmers have a solution:

Visual Express 2010 compiles only the client plugin and fails to compile the server plugin, but it skips this error and in the final steps it builds the main paraview executable, so Paraview works.

In the meantime I tried also the MinGW compilers with Code::Blocks. It is a mess.. after some initial troubles with Protobuf and QT libraries now it compiles Paraview till the serafin server plugins turn at 95% progress of the whole project but in contrast to VS20100 Express the compilation stops.

The error in Code::Blocks seems to be the same as in VS2010 Express.
Fabien, I send to you the client plugin SerafinClientPlugin.dll but I think it will not help you much.
