TOPIC: velocity vertical profiles with Paraview

velocity vertical profiles with Paraview 10 years 11 months ago #12898

Hi all!

I made a river simulation with Telemac3d and i want to extract vertical velocity profiles with paraview ( in order to compare with a campaign of velocity measurements (ADCP)).
I loaded my results in paraview, with sel2vtk.f90. But now i don't know how to see and extract vertical velocity profils, i looked at the paraview manual, but i am blocked.

I think i could use slice function in order to see velocity profiles, but my problem is my file vtk contains only one vertical plan (10 plans in my selafin file) when i loaded it in paraview.
I try to use volume representation and this message appears : "Cannot volume render since no point (or cell) data available. " Is my vtk file correct?

Hi
I'm not a regular user of paraview but I think you have a problem with your vtk file because you should find all the planes in it.

Have a look into the converter to see how it describe the 3D elements...

Best regards
Christophe

indeed i can see 2 vertical plans in my wet nodes and 10 vertical plans only on the boudaries. I try to attach an image

Finally I used slice filter in order to visualize velocity in different cross-sections.

I have two question :
- is it possible to distort this view in z plan to improve visibility?
- how can i compare this result with the campaign of velocity measurements (ADCP) ? I must import the ascii file in Paraview?

Thank you in advance for your replies,
