Shelf seas modeller position

Due to the expansion of its business relating to ecosystem response, renewable energy and coastal processes modelling, CEFAS is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and innovative coastal or shelf seas modeller.

 

The successful candidate will hold a post-graduate degree in numerical modelling, preferably in the area of shelf seas and will have significant experience of modelling waves, tidal flows and sediment transport processes. They will preferably have experience of modelling with TELEMAC or similar modelling solutions, be conversant with programming in FORTRAN and Python languages. Experience with operating on a Linux platform would be advantageous.

The role will involve:

  • Synthesising and processing data as preparation for model applications
  • Planning, preparing and implementing model applications for coastal applications
  • Assuring output by application of contemporary validation routines
  • Preparing and analysing results and reporting via publication or technical reports
  • Working with multidisciplinary teams built from a wide network of scientists
  • Developing modelling solutions for the Renewables industry
  • Contributing to an emergency response system for oil or chemical spills
