Hello everybody.
I am about to install the TELEMAC suite on a Linux system (64-bit architecture). I read that MPICH2 is one of prerequisites.
I recently learnt though that nowadays MPICH2 simply means an obsolete version of MPICH. MPICH2 and MPICH are the same project. After a stint using MPCHI2 as a merged name for program and version, they came back to the usage of using the name only. From
www.mpich.org/static/downloads/ the latest MPICH2 version (1.5) is dated as of April 2013, while the latest stable release MPICH is 3.1.13.
I have MPICH 3.x installed. I can obviously install MPICH2 as well, but I would skip this for a number of reasons. The question to the developers is whether MPICH2, rather than any newer MPICH, is critical to the installation of TELEMAC. Or, conversely, whether it is already acknowledged that a newer MPICH brings about more hassles than benefits.
Thanks for considering this.
