open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

Hello friends,

I'm trying to run telemac 2d using Miscellaneos Tidal Model option.

I've created my own constituents file from tidal harmonic analysis. The problem is that I can not use all my harmonic constituents data because telemac doesn't accept all my harmonic constituents. Telemac only accepts that defined in subroutine bord_tide_misc.f

Is there some method to update the list of harmonic constituents in subroutine bord_tide_misc.f ?

Should I only to insert extra harmonics directly in the list of harmonic constituents in subroutine bord_tide_misc.f ? or are there extra steps to do it?

To add some missing harmonic constituents in the miscellaneous option, you have to add them in the list of bord_tide_misc (the CONSTID array) + add missing formulae in nodalupv_schureman and nodalf_schureman with coherent numbers (beware of the orders).

If you have versions 6.3 and 7.0, you can see what was done to add 7 extra constituents (bord_tide_misc was called bord_tide_legos in version 6.3).

Here are modified sources for the addition of 7 extra harmonic constituents for FES2014 database (M3, M8, N4, S1, Ssa, Sa and Msf).
For N4 constituent, I didn't find nodal corrections in Schureman formulae. I tried to look other formulations, but I finally supposed that the nodal corrections should be like 2*N2 (for uvw) and f(N2)**2 (for f). Feel free to improve it!

Thanks for your update of the constituents. I will have a look at this and check it. I may have to reorder your 7 extra constituents as the other ones are listed in an alphabetic order.

You are right, N4 is the harmonic of N2 with itself.

Sorry for the late answer.
Here are some comparisons for 2 points in the English Channel: one offshore Cherbourg (point 1), and another one in the Strait of Dover (point 2).
Slight differences exist, but the comparison shows that these differences are almost insignificant and mainly highlights the differences between the databases themselves (mainly on current speed for point 2).
So I think the implementation of these new constituents is ok, but it should be tested over other places in the world or in more coastal regions, where the extra constituents added are more dominant.
