Hello

Since couple of months ago I had worked with telemac 2d Version V6p3. However Riadh from this forum recommended me to install the latest version of telemac 2d (V7p1). Therefore I am running my simulations with the newest version. But I obtained dissimilar results from I already obtained using Version 6.
I meant I ran a simulation in Version 7 and the results were absolutely wrong.

What do you recommend me in this case?

Attached you can see the results with the version 6 and version 7.

Thank you
Regards
Joel

Hi
It looks like you don't have any tide at boundary in V7P0.
Probably a problem with the computation of tide at the limit which probably means a problem with coordinates of nodes

Hello Joel

In the new version V7P1, the keyword OPTION FOR TIDAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS has been slightly changed and, now, it is necessary to give as options as the number of liquid boundaries (in your case 2 ?)
so you need to add
OPTION FOR TIDAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS = 1;1

In the next release I added a test to stop the computation and give a clear warning to the users.

I hope that this helps

with my best regards

Riadh ATA

Hello Riadh

I have added the command line as you mentioned in your last post
OPTION FOR TIDAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS= 1;1

However I have not find any results into my domain area as you can see in the attached picture. It seems like there is not water in the domain area

In addition I have attached again my cas file

Do you have any other recommendation?

Hi
In my opinion, it would be great to check the boundary management.
This mean to print in a formatted file, or in the listing the results of the subroutine bord at least at one point...

Hello Riadh

Could you please be more specific in your response? I have check all the parameters in my steering file and compare them with the simulation that I have done preciously using V6p3 and It looks like everything is well.

In addition, In my previous simulations I did not use any subroutine so that I thinks it should be another method to run the same simulation as V6 in V7. Otherwise it would be complicated to adapt or change from V6 to V7. Finally, I think there should be a small differences in the steering from both version.

Could you please help me to have a look the previous files I sent you?

Thank you

Hello everyone

Does anybody has any response to my query?

As I mentioned before I am using the new version of telemac (V7) and I have some problems I explained in my post. However I have not any problems using the same steering file in version 6 of telemac. In addition in version 6 I did not used any subroutine to set up the boundary conditions.

As you can see in my steering files I am forcing the model similar with version 6.

I hope somebody can help me with this issue.

Thanks a lot.

Hello,

Maybe it is a stupid remark, but I see that you have:

SPATIAL PROJECTION TYPE = 2

which is a Mercator projection, whereas your picture seems to show latitude-longitude coordinates, which is SPATIAL PROJECTION TYPE = 3.

With best regards,

Hello Jean

Thank you very much for your reply. However this is not the problem I still have.

I am running the simulation in Mercator projection and I am plotting my results in Lat lon coordinates.

Basically the problem I have is related to the version change. When I run my simulation in V6 the results looks satisfactory but when I change to V7 the results does not appear similar as V6. What I need to adjust to get same results (good ones) as V6 using V7.

Could you please help me?

Note: I have been forcing the model with volkov.oce.orst.edu/tides/global.html. In addition you can see both files in my previous posts.

Thank you
Joel
