open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

Hi, I am a fresh user and currently using the manual "Adding a particle transport module to Telemac2D with applications to algae bloom and oil spills" to simulate oil spill. Under the subtopic of Oil Spill Modelling, the steering files requires the input of name of tecplot oil file containing the oil displacement. Does anyone have any example of this file?

Hi,

It is an output file. So, you just need to give a name for this file in the telemac steering file. You can look at the two test cases ESTU_GIR and RIV_ART to learn more about the oil Spill running

The problem is induced by your oilspill.txt file. In fact, there are some empty lines between each keyword and value. Try the new file in joint piece.

As explained in the error message, you try to put one or more oïl particle aoutside your computation domain. That is why it does not work.

Hi I have manage to run the oil spill. But when i run the model it seems like the particles are very small and discrete and its like not moving at all. I tried changing the number of drogues to a higher value but it still does not work. Can anyone help me please? I attached hereby the steering file

Hello

The drogues will move depending on hydrodynamics and physical parameters you have introduced. If water velocities are very slow, drogues will not move a lot.
I sow some not conventional parameters in your steering file :
COEFFICIENT FOR DIFFUSION OF TRACERS : 0.000001
==> this is very low, are you sure ?
SOLVER FOR DIFFUSION OF TRACERS : 4
==> why solver 4, use rather solver=1
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ITERATIONS FOR DIFFUSION OF TRACERS : 60000
==> this is too much
ACCURACY FOR DIFFUSION OF TRACERS : 1.E-20
==> this is below of machine accuracy

I actually try to run the files according to past examples.
May I know where can I obtain the values to be chosen such as coefficient of diffusion of tracers, solver for diffusion of tracer and accuracy for diffusion?
