Hi,

I am trying to put a varying theoretical tide at the inflow to my model at the boundary. The equation I am trying to implement is hb = ho + Acos (wt) cos (kx).

Where hb is the tide height,
ho is the mean depth,
A is the tide amplitude,
w(omega) is the frequency,
t is the time,
k is the wave number and
x is the position of the boundary node.

Do I need some sort of subroutine, and if so how is that implemented into Telemac using Fudaa?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

There is mainly 2 solutions:
  1. You could use the subroutine sl.f to program your formula and place this adapted version in the local fortran file of your simulation
  2. You could create a boundary liquid file (possibly with fudaa) where you give the couple times/values computed in another program
The choice depends only of your decision. The first solution will be allways valid, the second one needs to cover the full simulation time to avoid a crash

Hope this helps

PS: the second solution will be more complex if your solution varies in space (I read too quickly your initial message)

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I read in the manual that to prescribe an initial boundary condition that varies in both time and space that the subroutine BORD is required (section 4.2.7). However, I am not sure how to use this?

I have documented what I am trying to achieve in the PDF attached and have also attached a Fortran file that computes the varying tide that I am aiming for. The problem is, I don't know how to translate this in Telemac2D and how to specify a theoretical tide at the boundary which varies in time and space.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
