Hi all,

I ran a model few month ago with the version v6p3. We decided to refine the scale of the mesh so i ran a new model but with the version v7p1r0 this time using the same cas file and submission file. However when I do the validation process the old model is better than the new one. it seems that initial condions elevation of the newmodel is not the same (depending on the site but sometimes higher and sometimes smaller) but i changed absolutely nothing in the cas file. Does someone have an idea from where it could comes from?

Hi
It could be interesting for us to know how you define the initial condition...
I suppose it's an automatic computation based on TPXO altimetry or something similar...
Another option is a change in the code of a default value or a harcoded value for some parameter but in this case, this should not affect the initial values...

Hope this helps

HI
Could you post an illustration of the initial difference?

About the cas file, I think it could be better to avoid "variable time-step"...

Hello Jonathan

Sorry for this late reply.
when you upgrade from an old version to v7p1, and if in your model uses tidal options, you need to take care about the keyword OPTION FOR TIDAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS (OPTION POUR LES CONDITIONS AUX LIMITES DE MAREE) which was only one value for all boundaries and then changed to several values since V7p1.
you need thus to introduce exactly the same number of options than the number of liquid boundaries of your model.

I hope that this helps

with my best regards

Riadh

Hello,

Thank you for your answer!!!

I change OPTION FOR TIDAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS as you suggest but istill have the same problem. Furthermore, I have a problem at the north boundary as you can see on the file attached within this email. Do you have an idea where does it come from?

thank you agian
