Hey all,

I have a 2d-model. The downstream boundary condition are water levels (tidal curve) and the upstream boundary is a discharge hydrograph.

Now, I have implemented a weir in my 2d-model but it does not work.

I have checked already the nodes from my weir file and they are correct. Then, I have checked the results for a simulation period and it seems so that the modeldomain upstream from the weir are not connected with the downstream part. I have attached a figure from the waterlevel result at the end of the simulation an my stering file and the weir file.

What I am doing wrong? Maybe some numerical settings? At the moment I have no Idea... MAybe there are some help from the community. Thanks a lot in advance

Cheerz,
Runkle

Hi
Looks like you don't have any water downstream the weir.
Try to put a small basin here and this will probably solve your problem.

Thank you for your hint but actually i have water downstream of the weir. See attached file.
but maybe my initial condition is wrong. I will try different initial conditions. If I find a solution I will let u now.

Is there any other suggestions?

Runkle

Hello

It looks like your bathymetry is very strange. Am I wrong or you have more than 240m difference between both sides of the weir ?
Is there any unconsistancy in the bathymetry ?

with my kind regards

Riadh

Hello,

Actually, for testing, I have set the bathymetry on both side on the same level of -2m.
And the distance between the upstream and downstream part of the weir are now only 10 meters.

This should work, shouldn't?

kind regards,
Runkle

Hi
probably yes but this is not the only parameter which drives the weir computation.
We don't have all the elements of your case so it's difficult to say where the problem comes from...
Did you try to run the test case "weir" to see if the computation goes well?

Yes, I run the test weir file. It works. Now i try to the find the error by using the settings of the test file.

I have attached my model... its only subarea of the entire model to test the implemented weir.

Hi
It start to works but some instabilities appears which provoke a crash...
Don't investigate why, just check the weir works
