Hello everyone, my name is gustavo, i'm new in this forum, i have been trying to follow the baxter tutorial, to get acquainted to the telemac also the tutorial seems to be similar to a simulation that i'm trying to do with a college friend, but we are currently facing a problem during the telemac simulation after specifying the conditions in the cas file.

As far as we can see, the error lies in the boundary file but we are not sure how to fix it, the cmd shows this:

We are hoping someone could help us finding where and what we need to fix.

Also, i would like to add that we have already run the case from files in this computer, obtained from a third person without error, we are following the same path of action and face this problem which the other person does not.

In addition, we have tested other examples in this computer and have succesfully run them.

Hi

The error message is quite clear in your case.
You probably made a wrong manipulation in the creation of the boundary condition file because this one is not compatible with your mesh...

In this example, the model doesn't have any island so the boundary condition file should describe the nodes (counter clockwise direction) from the south west node.
In the cli file, the first node is 1831, then 1853 ... and finish at node 1823.
If you edit the mesh in BK and show the node labels, on south west corner, you will find the node 1831 but the next one is 1837 and not 1853 and the last one should be 1825 and not 1823.
Try to generate the cli file from scratch, check the result and try to run the simulation again

Christophe

Thank you so much for answering, i will create another cli fie and simulate again, but now i wonder how it is when there are islands, where can i check that?

Hi
the boundary of island are added after the outer boundary, in clockwise direction...

That's interesting, it is a great tip in case we decide to simulate a river with islands, but now we're getting a new error that talks about the water dephts, we increased the value of the variable 'initial elevation' up to 100 but it keeps showing up

When i run the baxter tutorial example, I met the same error that something about velocity profile. I tried all the types of the velocity profile, but it runs with the same error.

Is anyone solve this problem?

DEBIMP: PROBLEM ON BOUNDARY NUMBER 1
GIVE A VELOCITY PROFILE
IN THE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS FILE
OR CHECK THE WATER DEPTHS.
OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSE:
SUPERCRITICAL ENTRY WITH FREE DEPTH
IN THIS CASE GIVE A POSITIVE DEPTH
IN THE INITIAL CONDITIONS
OR PRESCRIBE THE DEPTH AT THE ENTRANCE.

Hi!

The problem could be that you do not have water at that boundary. If you have no prescribed velocities (UV free), there is a possibility of UV entering (which is not desired, but possible because UV are free). You have to be sure about have water depth positive at the boundary (that's setting as Initial conditions water depth >0).

I do not remember so well Baxter tutorial, however, I hope it helps!

Cheers!

José

Hi, sorry i can't seem to properly download the attached file, but i can tell you i managed to fix that error by putting a greater value into the initial elevation variable, hope this helps you.
