open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

I am new to the system, and using v7.1. I am trying to follow the general advice to work through the examples to learn what is going on. The trouble I am having is understanding what I am looking at in the first place, the XML and TEX files that are attached are only appearing in code, with just place holder text. Is there some additional step I am not taking or a document that describes the examples?

I am using v7.2 and it has a validation document (.PDF) which gives a description of 6 telemac2d examples. Look for it in your installation folder (documentation/telemac2d/validation is the route in my case).

However, there are no description for every example, what i did when i started was take a look at geometry files with BK to have an idea what kind of problem could be of, after that, i took a look at the steering files, that helped me a lot.

The update of the documentation is in progress for the TELEMAC-MASCARET system. If what is available for v7.2 is not enough, you can try to have a look at old versions of documentations in www.opentelemac.org/index.php/validation

Anyway wheeler.1010, as you are starting with TELEMAC, I suggest you to use the last version available (v7p2, even the new release v7p2r1). You have new features + corrections of bugs since v7p1.

The only reason why I am using 7p1 is that I have been having trouble getting 7v2 to compile on my computer. I am getting the error code:

Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly
Error running cmd.exe /c set SYSTELCFG=C:\opentelemac-mascaret\v7p2\configs\systel_v7p2.cfg && PATH=C:\opentelemac-mascaret\v7p2\scripts\python27;%PATH% && compileTELEMAC.py -f C:\opentelemac-mascaret\v7p2\configs\systel_v7p2.cfg : Program ended with an error exit code

I have a step-by-step guide for installing v6p3r2 (I think might work for v7p2, I did not have to use it because automatic-installer worked for me), however, it is in Spanish.

Despite of the language, I think it would be helpful, it helped to a friend who had problems with automatic-installer.
