hi
since i am running my first project in Telemac2D (kavaratti islands) my simulation is able to run but iam unable predict for how many hours my project will run and could anyone tell me is there mistakes in my .cas file.
I am attaching .cas file and image of simulation

Hi Janakiram,

Well, first at all i advise you to use a courant number higher (0.8 would be ok), also, do not stablish a maximum number of iteration of 20, maybe the computation needs more iterations (as the message says). You could use SOLVER=1 instead of Solver 7.

I guess you have only one boundary, but, if you are setting as initial elevation 1m, why is the value prescribed 0m? What kind of flow are you working with, sub or supercritical?

With FV method set the duration is enough, you do not need to set a number of time steps.

If these suggestions do not work, would be necessary to see your geometry file and the boundary conditions file.

Thus, hope it helps,

Cheers,

José

thanks jose for reply i have made the changes suggested by you and running simulation but could suggest me approximately how many hours it will run to get final output.
thanks

Hi
It's impossible to answer to this question directly.
First you have to look to your configuration and to the listing to see if your parameters are the good one. An objective of 20 iterations per time step as indicate by José is OK.
Then you run the simulation for a reasonable duration and you will obtain a computation time. I said reasonable in order to have a computation time of 10~15 minutes.
From this first trial you could estimate the full computation time for your simulation.
Nevertheless, you should keep in mind that I/O are time consuming so reduce the number of output will increase the speed of computation ...

Christophe

Hi
now i have changed parameters as
DURATION =0.5
TIME STEP =60 sec
GRAPHIC PRINTOUT PERIOD=2
LISTING PRINTOUT PERIOD =5
while running simulation it going in multiples of 5 and i can able to see on screen Like EXCEEDING MAXIMUM NUMBER ITERATIONS 50: RELATIVE PRECISION
can you suggest now for how much time it will take to run simulation.
please check and tell
iam attaching screenshot of simulation and my .cas file
thank you

Hi Janakiram,

I would like to take a closer look at your files, could you please upload them into a drive?

Cheers,

José

Hello Janakiram,

your options in the steering file and the error output are somehow, at least for me, confusing. In my view your error output cannot belong to you cas file. Or something crazy is going on.
You drive your simulation with the Finite Volume scheme 6 (WAF) which has a explicit time discretization, and by the way is second order in space and time.

First, there is no linear system to solve? and second, is the k-epsilon model really implemented for the FV schemes? And a lot of Finite Element related keywords are not necessary or they have no effect at all.

Best regards,
Clemens

Hi Janakiram,

The geometry file (.slf) was not attached, you could send it to my email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., so, I could take at look as soon as I receive it!

Cheers,

José
