Hello,

I try my oil spill model, but the values of traces all are zero in the result file.
I think there are something wrong in my steering file.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

I'm also facing the same problem and also the hydrodynamic results are weird too.

Any suggestion?

Regards,
Sathish

Jiawei, can you upload your .sortie file and dg5_oil.dat file? Those will help to debug the problem.

Before uploading, can you check whether your if statement LT .EQ. 480 is actually hit or you have drogues added into the domain?

Also, run a scenario with only one unsoluble and only one soluble component and upload the same.

You do have oil dissolved into water (check the dissolved mass in the .sortie file). The DISSOLVED MASS is so small, which may have caused the zero tracer concentration. What if you set the Fraction Mass for all six unsoluble component to zero, and 0.25 for each of the four soluble components, in the oilspill.txt file?

Hi Sathish,

The problem mainly was that you do not prescribe an advection scheme for tracers.

With my kind regards

Hello

Sathish mentioned above that hydrodynamics is not good while he introduce wind.
First we should fix this issue before going further to any advanced feature.
It could be the combination of tide and wind that causes this issue.
Sathish, can you nullifiy the wind in a halo that contains the boundary region. You can do it using inpoly function for instance or a mask.

with my kind regards
Riadh

Sathish, the reason to zero tracer concentration is that you did not set up the type of advection for tracer (the third number 14 below). With this updated keyword, I can see some tracers in the result file. Note the water is very deep so the concentrations are tiny. You can calibrate your model if you do have monitoring data.

TYPE OF ADVECTION = 13;5;14

Attached is a screenshot showing the particles and total concentrations at the last time step. The particles do not travel far either.
