Dear all,

I am a new user of telemac who is looking for training sessions in order to help me learn the software.

I was hoping to attend the Telemac Summer school run by HR Wallingford, but unfortunately this was cancelled this year. I have also tried pursuing alternative courses without success including UWE Merkel and INPT.

In the meantime, I have tried completing The Baxter River Tutorial as well as a mini project. Unfortunately, I do not know anyone in my organisation who is able to use Telemac.

I feel that I would benefit from a Telemac training course but am struggling to enrol on a telemac course. I would be grateful for any information you are able to provide.

Hello

It depends on your geographical location and your availability. Hereafter, some upcoming trainings (as far as I know):
- Telemac user club in Graz (Austria): during the workshop, S. Bourban will give a training on Telemac2d (17th October), you can attend, see the following link
- within the 3rd symposium on flash flood in Wadi systems, in Muscat, Oman (link2), together with Dr ElKadi, I will give a training on Telemac2d + Sisyphe.
- next march, I give a training in Chatou (France).

I let other users give informations about other events I didn't mention above.

kind regards

Riadh

Hello,

This is more an opinion than an answer.

I think Baxter's Tutorial is very good as starting point. Also, there is plenty information in the forum and many users gives support in it. I advise you to go deeper into Baxter's Tutorial and use Telemac2D user manual as a support tool to understand really well Baxter's. Thus, you will be able to go from simplest cases to most complex.

That is a good way of understanding the software, training courses are great surely, but in the meantime, it is incredibly useful to use the information available. In my organization there was not anyone who was able to use Opentelemac either, but in the forum many people helped me.

Cheers,
José Andrés.

Dear Riadh and José,

Thank you for responses. Firstly, these look like great suggestions and will hopefully be looking to book myself onto one of the user conferences.

Secondly, given the great responses I have received, I will certainly be looking into using the forum more for assistance whilst trying to look further into the Baxter river tutorial.

Many thanks

Paul

Hello Apex116,

I hope to keep an eye on this thread for anymore suggestions. I planned to attend the HR Wallingford TELEMAC Summer School as well. I am also looking for alternatives to learn the module as it is important for my research.

I would be glad if you could let me know of any alternatives you come across. Thank you.
