Hi everyone:

We simulated the regional tsunami with Telemac2d model.Encountered some problems as the attachement picture. The simulated results look like not smooth enough.Has anyone encountered a similar situation? Some suggestions for improvement will be very helpful to us.

the steering file and the simulation result are attached.

Thanks!

Hello

we need to check the mesh quality also. Is it refined enough?
for numerical options, there are several ways to improve your model:
1- OPTION FOR LIQUID BOUNDARIES : 2 //thompson
2- INITIAL CONDITIONS : 'ZERO ELEVATION' not the best, rather use TPXO
3- PRESCRIBED ELEVATIONS = 0.0 not the best, use rather tpxo
4- IMPLICITATION FOR DEPTH = 1.
5- IMPLICITATION FOR VELOCITY = 1.
6- LAW OF BOTTOM FRICTION : 4
7- FRICTION COEFFICIENT = 0.03

if it does not immprove the model try the following:
DISCRETIZATIONS IN SPACE =12;11
If you have tidal flat, add
TIDAL FLAT=YES

If you need more dispersive effects, use Boussinesq equation instead of Shallaw water equations (EQUATIONS=BOUSSINESQ)

I hope that this helps

with my kind regards

Riadh

Hi Riadh
Thanks for your advice! It is very meaningful to my job. Thanks again.
Attachments are the meshgrid file and boundary conditions.
In addition how to output the time series of the interested sites?

with best regards
Thanks

Hello

the mesh looks OK but if you can refine it is will be more OK, especialy with Boussinesq.
Time series can be obtained very easily with your post-processing tool like BK. Otherwise, you can use the option given by Telemac that gives output of a list of points (keyword LIST OF POINTS). See user manual.

kind regards

Hi Riadh
Thanks your reply! In the user manual I don't find the description about how set gagues station output parameters exception 'list of points' and 'names of points'.I want to konw whether we need to specify a file names to output the times series for some points.Because the entire meshgrid high-frequency output consumes too much time.We just focus on some of the points that have been We just want to focus on some of the coastal points that have been badly affected by the tsunami. So the functions is very important for us.

Best regards
