open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

Hello, Everyone

I'm new on telemac, so I would like to have some advice, please.

I need to simulate a river with tidal influence and sediment transport. The thing is the tidal information that I have is in the coast of the river, so I think about to simulate the whole thing (the river until the coast), because I have the bathymetry.

So, I know I have to use Sisyphe for the sediment transport but my question is if is necessary to use Tomawac for what I need or I just could do it with telemac-2d?

Hello Meni

If there is no wave forcing in your model, Tomawac is not needed. Hydrodynamics can be handled mostly by Telemac-2D. If you have some other 3D considerations, you need to handle them using Telemac-3D.

The recommended way to start with, is to use Telemac2D. Calibrate it and then couple it with Sisyphe.

I was checking the Tide example, but I don't understand the files. I just understand the cas files and the geo_tide.slf. The other ones are just numbers with no words. Please, if you could explain me, it would help me a lot.

first you have to read the user manual, section tide is very useful and helps a lot to understand the files and the use.
Then, you can have some help in the validation document of Telemac-2D.
For this specific case, you can see in folder doc/ that there a tex file that explain the example.
You can generate the pdf by the use of script docTELEMAC.py, otherwise you can read directly the tex file.
