TOPIC: Transmissive outflow boundary

Transmissive outflow boundary 6 years 9 months ago #28824

Hi,

Is it possible to have an outflow boundary without any prescribed U, V, Q or H? I need to create a outflow boundary which is transmissive in nature (allowing the values to pass through). Which option should I use in order to do so?

Hello,

You can always create an "Free flow open boundary" whose code is 4 4 4 in the boundary conditions file and can be created using your regular -cli- file and replacing an existing boundary with that code (a simple find and replace) or be created directly using bluekenue using the "custom boundary" in the BC definition step.

PS: I usually test that condition in parity with a Thompson type (OPTION FOR LIQUID BOUNDARY = 2) when I want to rule out some situations regarding a stage-discharge curve.

Hope it helps,

José Díaz.
