TOPIC: Friction coefficient

Friction coefficient 5 years 9 months ago #32927

hi,

In Telemac2D I see that the default Friction Coefficient is in the range 50. What does it stand for? Usually for Manning's 'n' the values are in the range 0.01 or so. What does 50 in Telemac mean?

Thanks!

hello,

i think you must first look at the keyword "LAW OF BOTTOM FRICTIOM"

Law 3 is Strikler Law. (example: values about 50)
Law 4 is Manning Law. (example: values about 1/strikler 0.02)
is normaly used in the anglo-saxon areas

Hi,

If you want to use Manning's law for bottom friction, you have to set "LAW OF BOTTOM FRICTION = 4". Then you can define a coefficient of about 0.01.
(friction coefficient of about 50 stand for Chezy or Strickler laws for instance).
