Hello, all the masters of telemac. I am a beginner.

I tried to build a simple tide model based on the user manual, the "tide " examples and many suggestions on the forum.

Location: Tarragona, Spain (UTM North coordinates)
Mesh: Test1 - Rough mesh defines the area (named:Geo_Fangar.slf)
Test2 - Precise mesh (named:Geo_mesh_total.slf)
Boundary: one open boundary defines Elevation and horizontal velocity (H and UV)
one coastline boundary (wall)
Tidal data: TPXO Mediterranean from OSU

For Test1, I simulated it once and output the results file and output.txt.

- Problem: There are no tidal changes in the results and no horizontal speed direction.

For Test2, the wrong mesh is displayed that is a stop in the simulation.

I attached my document and asked for your help very sincerely.

1. Where is the problem with test1?

2. For very many nodes of mesh, how should I use the code "check the mesh = yes" with telemac or stbtel?

Thank you very much for your help

Best wishes
Yang

For test1, without looking at the model, it's looks like a problem often encountered when the coordinate system is wrong...
Try to check if the tidal boundary nodes are well found in the tpxo solution

Thank you very much for your quick response. I checked my coordinate system.

"X: UTM zone value of the WGS84, X is the number of the zone."

The number of X should be 31, but it is 30 in Fudaa. It seems that the problem is here. Or there is a problem with my original data.

How should I modify it?

For test1, you should change it directly in the steering file
Fudaa is not able to offer you the capability to change the utm number

Hi,professor c.coulet

I think the coordinates are one of the reasons, I wrote X zone UTM directly to 31. it working now. the horizontal speed is showed there.

But the result of the free surface is very bad. could you please looking at the model at few mins? whats wrong with the simple tide model?

i attached the result file and the new steering file of test1.

Regards

For test2, I think you should work on the mesh to avoid the boundary problems which are probably listed when you run telemac.
You could also try to change the keyword: checking the mesh = no

Ok, I will check the mesh on BK.

I would like to ask: Is the establishment and definition of the Mesh for test2 correct?

For test2, i think some few "river" that appears in the coastline could be remove without problems
Some transition between mesh density zone could be enhanced
But globaly this is not too bad
