Hi eveyone,

I want to use global data from copernicus to force a telemac2D model (use copernicus data on the boundary conditions of telemac). Copernicus provides Global Ocean 1/12° Physics Analysis and Forecast updated Daily in a Netcdf file. I am currently working on a script to adapt netcdf files to a format readable by telemac. I was thinking about putting these data in the liquid boundary file, but I am really not sure that putting these data in te liquid boundart flile is a good idea because I want to apply interpolated data on all the boundary points of my model...
I am quite a new user of telemac but I have time to learn
The variables I want to force are the velocities(u,v) and the sea level.
Does some of you have any clues about how to do?
Have a nice day!

Thomas

Hi
You should have a look in the latest version scripts, particularly in the converter.py with option generate_bnd

I think this is more or less already done

Hi,
First of all thank you very much for your answer, indeed the script was more or less already done!

So, I managed to use the scripts and get a boundary file. But I sill have a problem: I don't know how to make telemac use it! my question is : What Keyword should I use in my cas file to make telemac use my boundary file?
I tried to use SOURCES FILE but im not 100% about the results... can someone confirm it is the right way to do?
Thanks in advance,
Have a nice day,

Thomas

Hi
This is not automaticaly possible in telemac.
The best example for this kind of capabilities is in TOMAWAC
You could look Impose_Spectra

So there is some adaptation needed in telemac.

Other possibility, look at tpxo management

Kind regards
Christophe

Hi,
It's been a while, my research had kinda been paused during the lockdown.
So I've ran Impose_Spectra and it works well. So I was trying to adapt it to telemac when I heard about Binary boundary files on this forum. Unfortunately I didn't found much information about how to use these binary boundary files and how to create them... I am maybe wrong but I think they might be very useful in my case.
I was wondering if someone knew where to find informations about these files.

Hello Thomas,

I have just written a missing subsection about the BINARY BOUNDARY DATA FILE in the TELEMAC-3D user manual. Please find enclosed the page (only with trunk version at the moment, it will be available in next release).

Currently, this feature does not exist for TELEMAC-2D with the keywords setup as for TELEMAC-3D. You have to implement by yourself if it is what you want to do as Christophe already said.

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan

Sorry, there was a mistake with the name of the keyword for tracers in my previous post. It should be read PRESCRIBED TRACERS VALUES instead of PRESCRIBED VALUES OF TRACERS.
The enclosed file it the better one (I cannot change my previous post).
