Dear telemac Forum,

I am having a hard time imposing tidal elevation at the open boundary of my configuration using OSU European Shelf tidal solution.
Going through the forum I have made several attempts ...
If i choose prescribed elevation AND velocity then the model runs but I can't see any variation of the surface elevation (using Thomson method or not) ...
I'd rather use prescribed elevation solely because my open boundary condition is under the influence of my river discharge.
Could someone have a look at my configuration (V8p0) and give me some advice ?
Best regards

Oups I can't manage to load the ".cli" nor my geometry ".slf" file ...
I'm trying one zip file ...

As indicate in the rules, some file format are not allowed on the forum
Use a zip file!

Hi
No variation of the surface at boundary let us suppose a problem in the spatial location of the model...
Better to have all files to check rather than just the steering file

I have double checked : my input data are all in UTM30 WGS84 ... maybe I've missed something when generating my geometry file with blue kenue ?

I tested on my side with TPXO 7.2 as I don't have ES2008 available and it works without any problem
I had a varying free surface on ocean...

PS: I had a look on OSU website.
European Shelf doesn't cover your area so it sounds logical that you don't have any results!

YES !! It runs and have tidal surface elevation on the open ocean boundary !

Thank you so much for your help, I couldn't imagine that European Shelf would not contain south-west french coasts !! So I have been too fast in my choice of regional TPXO data source, I would probably still be banging my head on the wall without your support !

I've taken the regional Atlantique Ocean TPXO solution ... and it all runs smoothly !

Thank you for help Christophe.
Best regards

Great news.

As a complementary remark, and to enhance the results of your model I would advise you to work on your mesh as the quality is really poor...

Hello Aymeric,

I would have 2 questions to ask you if I may.

Which release do you use for TELEMAC-2D? v8p1 or older? Since v8p1, there should be a warning message for suspicious points outside the extent of the tidal solutions (e.g. European Shelf).

So if using a v8p1 release, can you just try to rerun your TELEMAC-2D model for 1 time step with the European Shelf as tidal solution and tell me if a message like the following is written or not please?

WARNING!!! THE POINT WITH X/Y IN THE MESH =
CONVERTED TO LONGITUDE/LATITUDE =
SEEMS TO BE OUTSIDE OF THE EXTENT OF THE TIDAL SOLUTION WHOSE MIN/MAX FOR LONGITUDE ARE:
CHECK THE KEYWORDS GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM + ZONE NUMBER IN GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM =

Thanks in advance for your answers,

Chi-Tuan
