TOPIC: Can I migrate a model build in v7p1 to v8p1?

Can I migrate a model build in v7p1 to v8p1? 3 years 9 months ago #37814

Good day,

I have a model that was built in v7p1. I tried to run it in v8p1 and got an error (screenshot attached). Is there something specific I need to do in order to run this model using v8p1?

Alternatively, I downloaded v7p1, but am getting an error when trying to compile it (screenshot also attached - compiling_error.png)

Thanks for any assistance that can be provided.

Regards,
Courtney

Hello Courtney,

It seems that you have a problem with your v8p1 installation which cannot manage the steering file you try to run.

Anyway, it is time to use v8p2, the latest release. We do not assist people using older releases now.
To test if you installation is OK, try to run an example. If it does not work, that means your installation failed. In that case, please the dedicated Windows installation section.

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan

Thank you for you response Chi-Tuan.

I successfully downloaded and compiled the latest release (v8p2) and I get the same error (see attached) when trying to run the model. Please advise.

It looks to me you try to run the cas file in scalar (win7gfors) while specifying 2 processors whitin the cas file. Remove the number of processors from the cas file or run it with the parralel configuration.

Hope that helps,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Thank you for that. I am new to Telemac so I am not very familiar with the parallelization. Should I totally remove the line the .cas file which specifies the numbers of parallel processors?

Thanks and regards,
Courtney

Hi Courtney,

You can remove the line or put a '/' in front so telemac will ignore the line.

If that doesn't solve your problem, please post your cas file and the command you use to run it.

Cheers,
Patrick
