When using local coordinate in my home town, how to calculate Coriolis force?

Hello captain,

If you know the latitude of one point inside the extent of your area and this area is not too large, you can consider the Coriolis coefficient as constant and calculate it with the formula written in the TELEMAC-2D user manual or the TELEMAC-2D reference manual. Look at CORIOLIS COEFFICIENT keyword.

Hope this helps,

Hello Chi-tuan,

Thanks for your answer.Another quetion, when the area is large and I know the latitude of every point inside ,can I calculate Coriolis force of every node, like giving the latitude file of every node? Whether I have to transform to the longitude/latitude coordinated system?I ask this question because when researching some engineering in a sea area, the mesh hard to generalize in longitude/latitude scale.

Hello,

You should read what is written for the keyword SPHERICAL COORDINATES in the TELEMAC-2D user manual.

Hope this helps,
