dear all,

Greetings!

As a newcomer to this field, I'm curious as to how we might enter horizontal acceleration into Telemac. This can be used to simulate seiches caused by earthquakes or other seismic events. How can we input the horizontal force acting on the system as a result of the seismic movement in telemac to generate waves in a certain area? All I need to do now is look into the impact of this seismic activity on a body of water or a reservoir.

waiting for the reply.

thanks and regards

Hello,

There is a feature in TELEMAC-2D which can give you some ideas, see the keyword OPTION FOR TSUNAMI GENERATION and the Okada model in the TELEMAC-2D manuals (reference, user and validation). The generation of tsunami is implemented as a displacement of the seabed.

Hope this helps,

hi there,

greetings! regarding the inclusion of the horizontal acceleration, I just need to know more about how telemac dealing the momentum equations in the code. I read the manuals but I need to know how the equations are solved in the code. where can I find the code in the telemac?so that I can make some observations.

thanks and regards

Hello,

To better know how the TELEMAC-2D equations are solved, you should read Jean-Michel Hervouet's book: Hydrodynamics of Free Surface Flows: Modelling with the finite element method, Wiley editor.

Implementation is done in TELEMAC2D and PROPAG subroutines in particular, and subroutines called by them.

Hope this helps,
