Hi All,

I am trying to use TPXO data to force my T2D/T3D simulation that is set in spherical coordinates. I get an error after 2 days of simulation that crashes the work. I know that there used to be a bug in using TPXO in spherical, so I was wondering if this has been fixed in the latest release? and if not, is there a generic solution to be able to use TPXO in spherical? (I am working with v8p0 at the moment)

Cheers,
Nayef

Hello Nayef,

If using spherical coordinates and you want to model tide (e.g. with tidal solutions like TPXO), you have to use GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM = 5. From v8p2, it should have been changed if not already set correctly.

As often told, please use the latest release (currently v8p3r1) to avoid known and solved bugs.

Hope this helps,

Hi Chi_Tuan,

I installed v8p3r1 and still have the same problem with using TPXO in spherical for TELEMAC3D simulations (TELEMAC2D works fine). I appreciate any help with this.

Cheers,
Nayef

Hello Nayef,

Did you run your computation in parallel? If yes, did you have a look at the PE*LOG files (output files for every core). If one of them has a different size, you can start by this one.

Do you have an error message in your (or one of your output file)? It is not always written in the master processor.

Have you tried to decrease your time step?

Anyway in addition to these tips, you can at least upload your steering file + Fortran files if you have any.

Hard to help with so little information.

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan
