TOPIC: Estuary model result

Estuary model result 2 years 3 months ago #40714

Hi all,
I am running an estuarine model with tides downstream and river discharge from upstream. I am facing an issue in the calibration. There is a lag in the
river discharge reaching downstream. How can I rectify this? herewith I have attached the comparison between the field and simulated result.

Hard to say with no information on intial conition used, boundary condition size of the model etc. do you run a cold start?

Hi PMV,
I think I am not doing a cold start. I am starting the simulation by considering 0.5m water depth all over the domain. I have given all the files I am using for the simulation below. Thanks in advance.

First of all when you start with a water depth of 0.5m over your domain and thus water velocities at zero, you are doing a cold start!

Second your discharge is increasing at 536400s which is 149hrs into your simulation.

What you see in the water elevation figure you posted in you first post is the 230m3/s discharge arriving at that point.

I advise you to run constant river discharge with tide until you get a good result and use that as inital condition (water levels and water velocities).

PS. these are basic modelling practices.

Hope that helps,

Patrick
